- Terrell Owens is no longer a member of the Cowboys. I know he can make an impact to a team on the field, but his locker room personality not so much. I hope he finds a team that can finally help TO be all TO can be.
- The Texas Tech men’s basketball team upset #9 Kansas on Wednesday night here in Raiderland. Our men’s team hasn’t had the best year, we are near the bottom in the Big 12, but it was awesome seeing that final score of 85-64!
- I only have 8 more hours to work until the weekend.
- Someone who has created quite a bit of stress in my life is moving on down line. Adios…au revoir…auf wiedereshen…arrivederci…good-bye…hit the road jack…elvis has left the building
- I get to use my free mouse pad I received in campus mail yesterday!
- It’s casual Friday. I get to wear jeans and my nifty Tech shirt commeorating the major football upset over the University of Texas this year. Oh by the way that score was Red Raiders 39…UT 33.
- I have a messy desk. I know this doesn’t sound like it would be fun, but it keeps those people who want to delegate extra work to me at bay.
- I have a igloo cooler sitting in my office.
- The construction festival is still going strong outside my office. I know this is odd, but I like watching these guys dig tunnels under the sidewalk. And it doesn’t hurt that some of these guys are easy on this gal’s eyes.

Glen, Olympics and more
The Glen
- Pit strategy hurt came back to bite Dale Earnhardt Jr. It looked like he would have a good finish, but the yellow flag killed his day. He finished 22nd. This dropped him two spots in the points.
- Ryan Newman’s car spun and couldn’t get refired. Kudos to Sam Hornish for helping out a teammate even thought it looked like it was going to cost him a spot in the top 35. But luckily he is still in the top 35.
- Marcos Ambrose had an excellent weekend. He takes the win in the Nationwide race on Saturday and finishes 3rd after starting 43rd. How ’bout that Aussie!
- Jeff Gordon finishes 29th–AT THE GLEN! And there was no wreck invovled. I am goign to assume Steve and the boys couldn’t get the car dialed in for Jeff. This happened the year Jeff didn’t make the Chase. Robbie and the boys were having trouble getting his car dialed in and we see what happened there. I am sure I am not the only who has red flag warnings out for all to see. In 2005 when Jeff didn’t make the Chase, he finished 14th at The Glen.
- Tony had a good day. This is second race in a row where he finished 2nd. I truly thought he was going to win on Sunday. I wanted him to win. I know I am not the only Smoke fan who wanted him to win. I don’t know if he had the car to get passed Kyle. I am sure if he had it would have been a different story on Sunday. But it’s one of those things where Tony may be looking at the bigger picture. He is currently sitting in 7th place.
- Kyle won his 8th race of the season and will have 80 bonus points going into the Chase. Unless the wheels fall off the #18 team, Kyle may end up with the Championship. But as you can’t count on anything NASCAR. All it takes sometimes is someone to get hot and the other to get cold. It ain’t over until the last checkered flag is waved at Homestead.
- When you think of the “big one” you think Talladega, but Sunday there was a big one at The Glen. I still cringe every time I see the replay of Bobby Labonte hitting David Gilliland. It was a big mess. I am glad the drivers were able to walk away. I haven’t seen anything about Bobby to see if he had any further injuries or if any. It was one big cluster fuck (excuse my language).
The Olympics
- I love watching the Olympic Games. I am enthralled by the whole spectacle. I prefer the winter games over teh summer ones, but I will still watch. I find myself watchign events that I have never watched before (i.e. handball). I do that during the winter. I find curling a fascinating sport. I root for athletes not only from the US, but others countries as well. I guess it’s that Olympic spirit thing going on.
- If you didn’t catch the 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay Final the other night, you missed an awesome race! I found myself whooping and hollering as if I was right there watching. I am probably not the only one who was cheering those boys. I have to say Michael Phelps is one finely chiseled speciman of an athlete. If you dont’ believe, take a gander at the photo below.
- Michael now has 3 gold medals for his quest for 8 golds in a single Olympic game. He will go for two more tonight. Go Michael!
- I love the Visa commercials with the voiceover done by Morgan Freeman. I always tear up at this one (warning this was videoed from someone’s tv, however it still makes me tear up)
- I am tired of people throwing me under the bus.
- I want to change careers.
- I want to move to another city
- I want one of my friends to know that I am here for her and that I don’t keep track of things.
- Little Smoke starts kindergarten two weeks from yesterday. Cool thing though…the school district we are in supplies all school supplies except a box of kleenex and a nap mat. I am so disappointed. I was sooooo looking forward to buying school supplies. I guess I will have to feed my habit in another manner.
Protected: Rant On!
Randomness Strikes Again
I really haven’t had the desire to write anything about NASCAR this week. I don’t know if the reason is because all the talk has been about Jeff and Jimmie or something else. Maybe it’s just the fact that after next weekend, we will all find out who finally wins this whole thing and the 2007 will finally be over. So I thought I would just write about some randomness.
Thanksgiving is coming up….YEA!!! What a holiday Thanksgiving is. Where else do you get to celebrate eating and watching football? I love my family, I really do, but there are times I am ask myself…am I adopted? We put the FUN in dysnfunction. I also feel Thanksgiving gets a screwed of all the holidays. It is stuck between Halloween and Christmas. Some grab a turkey leg, watch some football and tell someone Happy Thanksgiving.
Because it is supposedly now the holiday season, I can now get my Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks. A few years ago I wouldn’t even consider the possibility of paying that much for a cup of coffee, but thanks to a trip up to Indianapolis last October I’m hooked. Plus they have some delicious pastries that can accompany your coffee…this morning I will be chowing down on a Cranberry Bliss. YUM!!!
I really like what I do for a living. It’s a very rewarding job and can at times try the patience of a saint, but I can’t see myself doing anything else. But lately it has been CRAZY! It’s not so much the work, but the workers. On some levels I would rather work with some trained monkeys than some of the people I do. Come to work and do your FREAKIN’ JOB! If you don’t like the job, find another. If you perceive I am trying to make you look bad, don’t bother…you do that all on your own. What you are doing is affecting not only your coworkers, but the customers you serve. Who is ultimately the reason you are here.
I must be headed down the path to Hades because every time I turn around someone tells me they are praying for me. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind people who feel the need to pray for me because I could use all the help I need, but you don’t have to tell me like I am some evil person who needs saving. Case in point–someone who I really don’t care to associate with, but have to on a daily basis, told me they have been really (an they stressed the REALLY part) praying for me. Are you praying for me because you think I talk too much or live a life of sin? Are you praying for me because I am not Miss Sunshine in the morning? Whatever the reason, I don’t need you to pray for me because you are doing it to be mean spirited. I am not living the life of sin you think I am. I am kind to children and my fellow man. When I talk to someone else about others, I am not making things up, I am stating the cold hard truth. And finally I have and never will be Miss Sunshine in the morning. I am not a morning person. If I don’t smile and say “Good Morning” to you–don’t take it personally. I do the same thing to people who know and love me. They know not to expect to be at my best before 10:00 am in the morning. That’s just who I am. GET OVER IT!
It’s a Friday and it is the end of work week. I have 8 hours until I have a couple of days off. Lots of things to occupy my time this weekend…NASCAR, Tech v UT game, Cowboys/Giants game, and the least of all cleaning my house. But all in all it will be a much better time than being at work.
Let me leave you with these parting words which I read every day before I begin my 8 hours of work…”Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill because they pissed me off.”
