My thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones who were forever changed on 9.11.2001. A few days after 9-11 I submitted a letter to the editor to our local paper and it still rings true with me today as it did 8 years ago.
I Am An American
I as sit at my desk and quietly eat my lunch, listening to the reports about Tuesday’s attack on America via the Internet, I think about all of the people who have been affected by this tragedy that struck our country on Sept, 11, 2001. I am a woman, a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, a wife, a friend, a co-worker, a high school graduate, a college graduate, a graduate student, a state employee, a Texas Tech employee, a citizen of Lubbock, a citizen of the state of Texas, a sports fan, a Baptist, a Christian and a Democrat, but most of all I AM AN AMERICAN.
I did not vote for President George W. Bush in the 2000 election, but the reasons I chose not to vote for him do not matter now. He is the president of the United States and he is my leader. He will help bring this country back together as we try to heal from these horrific acts perpetrated on the United States.
My thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost friends and families. God bless you!
