Kissin’ the Bricks
All the stars were lined up for Mr. Tony Stewart. No one was going to deny him his vicotry at Indy. He fulfilled a life long dream of his by winning the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard yesterday in Tony Stewart style. With that victory and along with the misfortunes of Jimmy Johnson, Stewart is now at the top of the mountain.
CONGRATULATIONS MR. STEWART!!!!! ENJOY THIS VICTORY!!!!!

dead skunk and duct tape
received this picture in my email today…the car is demonstrating the next use of duct tape..notice where the car is going and where the car is from..OKLAHOMA!!–enough said. I am hoping these people were on their way out of Texas…we don’t need any of these people dipping into the Texas gene pool.

on the way to work the dj was talking about a man who trapped a skunk and then called animal control to kill the skunk..and then here’s the kicker..the city fined him for using an illegal trap..this man is an eighty year old taking care of his invalid wife…he was doing his civic duty…and how does the city of lubbock repair him…fine him$187 dollars…YIKES!…there’s something wrong with that picture..any way this leads up to the skunk song the dj played in his honor…it is called “Dead Skunk”
i thought i was going to die from laughter and i was trying to drive to work…the lyrics to the song are hilarious..the site i found has a midi file (kinda sucks), but well worth the look for the lyrics…so check out Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III
thank you
i would like to thank the person who turned right and didnt’ give their signal–did they not make your model car with turn signals??? if they didn’t i would return your car to the dealership and have them fix it…do your realize that a big blue suv cannot stop on a dime???
i would also like to thank the old guy in the cadillac i was behind during 5:00 rush hour–thank for going well below the speed limit and make it dangerous for not only me, but others around you who might come up behind and have to slow down–here’s an idea…DON’T DRIVE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 5-6 PM MON-FRI. Luckily, i didn’t really want to get home from a long day at work.
i would also like to thank all of you people who feel the need to stop at the front entrances of walmart…thank you for causing all the traffic jams! are we that lazy that we can’t walk a few feet to the door and then you get mad when other cars go ahead you because you are too stupid to realize you are causing a traffic hazard…
thank you to the guy driving the escalade who was parked in front of the united supermarket entrance…thank you for parking and causing a major traffic jam last sunday right during the church rush…and didn’t it even occur to you that you stupid vehicle was causing not only me, but others to drive around you and thus creating all kinds of problems–next time park your stupid and vehicle and walk your happy butt into the store.
thank you to those who drive down 50th street between slide and the loop (specifically between silde and chicago…it goes to one lane and there is signage stating this fact..if you drive the street regularly you know this…you also know that the cars tend to make frequent turns in this stretch of road..i give my signal when i am planning to turn…don’t get in a huffy when you have to slam on your brakes b/c you were going toe fast (this isn’t your personal drag strip) and you nearly run into me…i gave my signal for this purpose to let you know that i am turning…you are lucky my suv has working turn signals installed…if you were behind the lady who didn’t have them installed on her car who knows what kind of mess you would have created (see first thank you)…
and for my last thank you–to the guy who nearly caused a 3 car accident
Jaws–My Little Jawbreaker
Went to the mall last night to get some candy from my favorite candy store..the usually stuff..jelly bellies (sour), gummy bears. I am rathered fascinated by the selection of candy they have at this store. They have something called White Trash–wonderfully delicious and highly addictive. You can eat a sucker with a worm in it and get your picture on the wall (don’t have the nerve yet to do that–if i am going to eat a worm…there better be some tequilla involved). But last night I found something that shocked me to the core…a giant jawbreaker. Ok–you are probably thinking giant jawbreakers have been around for some time, but not this one..if it is has I haven’t seen it in the store. It literally could break someone’s jaw. If you don’t believe me..check it out below
Here is your standard tennis ball…nothing special about it

Here is “Jaws” by himself….

and here is a comparison of them both…see “Jaws” is bigger than a tennis ball
He will be on display till the end of month in my office.
pocono
i am so not on top of things these days…pocono was good..another top 10, but no fence climbing this week for mr. stewart…
i just don’t know if jeff or dale will make the chase…as in the words of Jerry Reed…”we’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there…”
i know i am being a little pessimistic, but i just don’t know..indy is coming up and it’s one of his tracks, but ugh…come one jeff…need a top 10 here…a win or top 5 would be even better…
it is an off weekend for the cup racers…don’t know what i will do on sunday…there will be an empty void…any suggestions???
oh—tony’s car was on display at the home depot in lubbock back on july 19—wasn’t able to go due to the fact that i was working and i was learning all about public policy, but in cased you missed it too..here are some pics.

and the view several drivers have seen of tony’s car

schoolhouse rock
i was sitting in my policy class this week and we were discussing congress and how a bill becomes law and then the old schoolhouse rock “i’m just a bill” came up in the conversation. There were several of my classmates who have never heard of it and here’s the shocking part…they had no clue what schoolhouse rock was…ugh…i guess for the first time i felt my age…i have to admit i am in a class where most of the people were born after 1980…but come..i thought everyone had at least heard of schoolhouse rock..where else could you learn about american history, science, math, grammar and watch saturday morning cartoons??? and people thought tv wasn’t educational…i still to this day can recite all the words to the preamble albeit i have to sing because that little ditty from schoolhouse rock pops in the brain…
my personal favorite is “i’m just a bill”…here’s a pic of Bill and the lyrics…you can sing along if you want…no one will laugh at you. you can “sing along” with your other favorites if you want here at this schoolhouse rock lyrics site.

Boy: Woof! You sure gotta climb a lot of steps to get to this Capitol Building here in Washington. But I wonder who that sad little scrap of paper is?
I’m just a bill.Yes, I’m only a bill.And I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill.Well, it’s a long, long journeyTo the capital city.It’s a long, long waitWhile I’m sitting in committee,But I know I’ll be a law somedayAt least I hope and pray that I will,But today I am still just a bill.
Boy: Gee, Bill, you certainly have a lot of patience and courage.
Bill: Well I got this far. When I started, I wasn’t even a bill, I was just an idea. Some folks back home decided they wanted a law passed, so they called their local Congressman and he said, “You’re right, there oughta be a law.” Then he sat down and wrote me out and introduced me to Congress. And I became a bill, and I’ll remain a bill until they decide to make me a law.
I’m just a billYes I’m only a bill,And I got as far as Capitol Hill.Well, now I’m stuck in committeeAnd I’ll sit here and wait While a few key Congressmen discuss and debateWhether they should let me be a law.How I hope and pray that they will,But today I am still just a bill.
Boy: Listen to those congressmen arguing! Is all that discussion and debate about you?
Bill: Yeah, I’m one of the lucky ones. Most bills never even get this far. I hope they decide to report on me favourably, otherwise I may die.
Boy: Die?
Bill: Yeah, die in committee. Oooh, but it looks like I’m gonna live! Now I go to the House of Representatives, and they vote on me.
Boy: If they vote yes, what happens?
Bill: Then I go to the Senate and the whole thing starts all over again.
Boy: Oh no!
Bill: Oh yes!
I’m just a billYes, I’m only a billAnd if they vote for me on Capitol HillWell, then I’m off to the White HouseWhere I’ll wait in a lineWith a lot of other billsFor the president to signAnd if he signs me, then I’ll be a law.How I hope and pray that he will,But today I am still just a bill.
Boy: You mean even if the whole Congress says you should be a law, the president can still say no?
Bill: Yes, that’s called a veto. If the President vetoes me, I have to go back to Congress and they vote on me again, and by that time you’re so old…
Boy: By that time it’s very unlikely that you’ll become a law. It’s not easy to become a law, is it?
Bill: No!
But how I hope and I pray that I will,But today I am still just a bill.
Congressman: He signed you, Bill! Now you’re a law!
Bill: Oh yes!!!
