Update…thanks Mother Nature! Coke 600 postponed until tomorrow. So my Day ‘O Racing has turned into Days ‘O Racing. The only good thing I will be home and won’t have to make that awkward “I’m sick” (cough, cough) phone call to my supervisor.
Congratulations to Helio on winning his 3rd Indy 500!
I have my supplies and hunkered down for the Day ‘O Racing. But I want to stop and say thank you to those men and women who defend my freedoms so that you and I can enjoy this wonderful Day ‘O Racing.
David Poole, co host of Sirius Morning Drive and writer for the Charlotte Obeservor passed away suddenly today. He was 50.
As a NASCAR fan, I respected his insight on the sport of NASCAR. There were times that I didn’t necessarily again with his opinions, but I respected him for them. I would hope he would Just I would think he would have respected mine if I ever got a chance to meet him. It saddens me to think I was just listening to him this morning on The Morning Drive as I made my way to work.
The NASCAR community has a lost a friend today. He will be missed by those who he knew both in and out of NASCAR. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as the grieve the loss of this wonderful person. It will be a sad day tomorrow morning as I tune into the Morning Drive and not be able to hear David and Mike banter with not only each other, but with all of us NASCAR fans.
I have to admit when I heard this story I had to make sure today wasn’t April 1, but it’s that stupid it’s so real.
On Sunday before the big race at Talladega, NASCAR fans will attempt to set the world record for the biggest chicken dance.
Apparently PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) asked Guinness World Records to ignore this attempt on Sunday. Why? It’s sponsor. You guessed it Kentucky Fried Chicken. If you haven’t followed the battle PETA has had a contemptuous relationship with KFC over the years.
I understand a person’s right to protest for their cause and/or beliefs, but come on now. Has any of the PETA members been to a NASCAR race? Do they understand this fan base? I mean, just look around any tailgate area at a NASCAR race. I mean those aren’t bushels of carrots and broccoli out there on those grills. I mean the last time I went to a NASCAR event, one of the vendors was selling pork butt on a stick.
So if you are hanging out at Talladega on Sunday, dust off those dancing shoes and do the chicken dance!
