Daytona-Part II

I was reminded yesterday by that person (and once again you know who you are) that I failed to mention any of the other events that happened at Daytona. So here ya go!

Mark Martin (your driver) was knocked out early on. Jeff Gordon was signaling to the driver behind him that he was going to pit. He gave the wave to Jamie McMurray. I am assuming that Jamie saw it, however Scott Riggs wasn’t able to whoa up in time. This caused Mark Martin to swerve to try and avoid him and thus meeting the Daytona wall and well…you know the rest. I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was waiting for that person (mentioned earlier) to say it was my driver’s fault that Mark ended up like he did, but he didn’t blame him. Jeff did what he was supposed to do. I think deep, deep down he really likes Jeff, but he just doesn’t want to admit it.

Speaking of Jeff, it seemed you were not happy that you were back in under that 400 point range after the race. I know the top ten is what you are looking for, but it’s a start. Baby steps–baby steps–hey, look at it this way, you have a better shot at making the chase than Dale Jr.

Dale Jr. did have a good race. I think it helped his confidence, but I just don’t know if he has enough time to dig himself out of the hole. He needs for both Biffle and Johnson to have a bad day at the races on the same day. It seems when ones is doing good the other is doing not so good. It just equalizes everything.

I am still not sure how I feel about NBC/TNT coverage of NASCAR yet. They have only had one race under their belt and it was delayed by 2 hours.

Only 4 months from today until Texas! I will be there watching all the excitement of the weekend…TRUCKS, BUSCH, CUP…OH MY! I am so excited!!!! This will be my first race weekend. I have been told by others who follow NASCAR, once you attend your first race, you will want to go to others. I have no doubt about that fact.

Good Luck on Sunday boys!!!

Stewart Domination

That’s two..count them… two wins in a row for Mr. Tony Stewart!!!!

Even when he wasn’t leading the race–he didn’t take him long to get out in front. The move late in the race where Tony passed four cars on the outside was AWESOME!!!! That was some DAMN fine drivin’ if I do say so myself!! No one was going to catch Mr. Stewart–and I mean no one!

Good Luck next week at Chicago–three in a row!!!

Infineon

I am back from vacation..it was nice..very relaxing. I went to Galveston and stayed at the Moody Gardens Hotel. It was a nice place. They put chocolates on my bed every night. I think if I go to Galveston again I might just stay there. A little pricey than I am used to, but it’s worth every penny.

Infineon was a good race considering road races aren’t my favorite races to watch. Jeff got the pole and I thought he was going to be the one to beat yesterday, but when his transmission started causing problems I knew it wasn’t going to be his day. He finished 33rd. YIKES!!!!!

But the star of the day was Tony Stewart. He was driving his car like he stole it and with one hand too. That was some damn fine drivin’.

As most of you know I am not a Dale Jr. fan, but I thought he might have had a chance this weekend. He qualified 10th which was his best start at Infineon, however, he too had transmission issues. It seems his chances for making the chase are diminishing with each race. I think it is time he looks seriously at where he wants to be next year.

Side note–Jr. won Fox’s NASCAR sexiest driver contest. Like that was a suprise victory.

Well–the boys are back at Daytona on Saturday and NBC/TNT takes over the race coverage from here on out. I really do like the boys at Fox. I wasn’t impressed with NBC/TNT last year. There showed way too many commercials for my taste. Oh well..maybe things will improve this year.

Good luck boys!!!

PS–a note to that person who thinks I have jumped off the Jeff Gordon bandwagon (and you know who you are), you have received some misinformation from someone. I am still and will always be a Jeff Gordon fan. Get over yourself!

Michigan

Sorry for not posting after Pocono, but I was having trouble with my left front tire. What was the deal with the tires last Saturday? Every time you turned around someone was going out becuase of tire issues. I hope they can get these things fixed before the July Pocono race.

The boys are in Michigan this weekend and in honor of the Batman Returns 400 here is David Letterman’s Top Ten Signs Your Neighbor is Batman
10. Always complaining about his “rubber suit rash”
9. When you mention Superman, he rolls his eyes and mutters, “pantywaist”
8. His teen son drove to the prom in the Batmobile
7. Is re-roofing his house to fix loose shingles and grappling hook damage
6. Who’s banging on his door at 4 AM but an angry, knocked-up Catwoman
5. Introduces his parents–Carl and Linda Batman
4. You hear him on the phone asking J. Crew if they carry seersucker cowls
3. On Thanksgiving, you see green lantern holding a JELL-O mold
2. When he goes on vacation, asks if you’ll water his plants and grease his bat pole
1. He’s a recluse in a weird outfit with a young sidekick ( Sorry, that’s a sign your neighbor is Michael Jackson)

Have a great race this weekend boys! Good luck Tony, Jeff, and Mark. Mark is driving the Batman Car this weekend.

Trent

I thought my friend Trent deserved some space in “The Park”.

He was the only one at dinner that was man enough to put on the racing helmet.

So here’s a BIG SHOUT OUT to you TRENT!!!!

mindless activities

just wanted to give a shout out to one of my favorite columns by Whitney Matheson on USA Today called “Hip Clicks” as well as her weekly “Pop Candy” while surfing one day. I have been addicted ever since. Somtimes she will have links to interesting and unusual websites. I can’t remember if I linked to this one directly or found it on via another site, but if you want to kill some time go to Kitten War.

I just love to find mindless websites. There is something intriguing to me about doing something where no thought process needs to take place. I work in an environment where I must think or make decisions on a daily basis. The last thing I want to do when I surf the web is think about things. If you are into calculators, here you go!

A friend of mine told me to visit this website called Angry Alien Production. Very funny stuff!

Just a reminder Tuesday, June 14 is Flag Day.

As my work day winds down I wonder if I could be like this guy–talk about job dedication.

I am still wondering about this bizarre tale of the Texas A&M student who disappeared back in 1998 and was recently found working in a Sam’s Club in Kentucky. I can’t imagine putting my family through that kind of ordeal. I guess she just didn’t want to be with her family any more. She could have least called to let her family know she was ok.

If you find yourself with nothing else to do tonight check out Pogo.

Dover Dealings

Whew! I am glad it’s over! I was glad to see more green flag racing this week unlike the Lowe’s Demolition Derby 500 sponsored by Coca Cola.

Ok–let me preface by saying I am a die-hard Jeff G. fan. When you walk into my office at work and at home you can pretty much tell who my driver is, but on Sunday I was a little ashamed to call myself a Gordon fan. Tony barely hit you Jeff…it was like he did it on purpose (well, from what I observed on the replays) and if you think about it you know he didn’t either. You even said Tony had the better car. I know from regular street driving that “slow cars” should be in the right hand lane to allow the faster cars to pass. Maybe if you had used this policy on Sunday you wouldn’t have gone out on lap 41. So you dropped out of the top ten this week, you are still within the 400 points of the leader and there are still 13 races until you get to the chase. Word of advice….build that bridge and get over it. If this keeps up, I may have to seriously think about my membership with your Gordon network, etc. I will be watching.

Jeff you said you would get back Tony at a later time–don’t you think NASCAR will be watching you???
Oh well…the saga continues

Tony was having a decent day until the little love pat by Jimmie–his car wasn’t quite the same after that and plus it doesn’t help when you get caught speeding the NASCAR police in the pits.

Congratulations to Greg Biffle! He had the car to beat on Sunday–Wow! I am still a little puzzled by the Subway commercial. Why does he have the sandwich in his lap while he is driving?

And it was nice to see teammates paying nice with one another on the race track

If you are near Eldora Speedway tonight check out Prelude to a Dream where several NASCAR regulars will be taking part including owner Tony Stewart

Ok–on to Pocono this weekend…lets hope everyone can play nice with each other.

Good luck Jeff, Tony, Kevin & Elliot!
