Speed Racer

I haven’t really had time since Monday to sit down and write a post.  This time of the year it is super crazy at work…it’s like trying to get off pit road during a caution flag…total and utter chaos, but it’s a controlled chaos.

As you all know Speed Racer-The Movie opens up this Friday.  I am a big fan of Speed Racer from way back hence my blog name.  So to my surprise when I walk into our local Toys R Us and see this.

That’s right folks…Barbie has put out the Speed Racer and Trixie doll set.

And yes, I bought it!

How could I pass this up?  I mean this is my namesake after all.  And one of the scary parts about this…I used to wear my hair like that.

Hopefully I will get a break in the next couple of days to get something posted before the race on Saturday night, but you never can tell how these things work.

NASCAR Junkie

That’s right I am a NASCAR Junkie and I finally have acquired a shirt that says it all.

FRONT OF SHIRT

BACK OF SHIRT

This is the shirt I will be wearing tomorrow at work.  So fellow co-workers you have been warned!

Happy Belated Anniversary

I can’t believe it has been over three years since The Park was created. The Park was up and running on April 7, 2005.  It started out with very little direction or content.  Since I needed an outlet for my obsession for NASCAR, it has evolved into what you see today.  I have slowly managed to maintain a small readership of friends as well as fellow NASCAR aficionados.  I have had a couple of visitors from other media outlets which I think is pretty cool.  Who knew my little spot on the world wide web would get noticed.  The Park has  lead to spot as a contributor on NASCAR bloggers FT Digest.

After visiting my friend’s site Molding Young Minds, where she pledged to blog 365 days, I thought I could rise to some kind of challenge like that.   I knew I wouldn’t be able to blog every day, but I have a concerted effort not only to post more times during the week, but also be more than a lurker.  I have been making the rounds on other sites and commenting on posts.  I still lurk on several blogs because they are more fun to read than comment on.  I am sure I have had my share of lurkers as well.  No matter how you have come to visit The Park, thank you for visiting!

Here’s to another year on the web!

NASCAR Bloggers FT Digest

I started out Trixie’s Trailer Park as a way of talking about the sport I love–NASCAR. Majority of my friends and family don’t understand this passion for NASCAR that I have except Postman. I think he is the only one out there who understands it. For the last three years, I have been nurturing The Park. It has undergone numerous design changes as well as a move from Blogger to WordPress. I have regular readers who post and regular lurkers. But what surprised me the most was RevinJim’s offer to become a contributor to NASCAR Bloggers FT Digest.

I have never considered myself an expect on NASCAR. I have definite opinions on things and if you read my blog on a regular basis you know that. I try to be objective on things, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. I am just that passionate about NASCAR and that’s why I decided to become a contributor over at NBFTD.

So come on in and get your 4 tires and a splash of gas… http://nbftdigest.wordpress.com/

Rockin’ & Rollin’

I have been out of commission the last few days. Apparently I have some vicious upper respiratory infection. It’s more viral than bacterial, so basically I am on my own. I swear I don’t have any lungs left because I have been coughing them up the last two days. I have coughed and/or sneezed so much my back is very sore. So maybe it was a good thing I am not at the race this weekend. But you know, I still would have gone if given the opportunity. Please…I am a rabid NASCAR fan.

I was checking out Cup qualifying yesterday and caught the tail end of the #00 crash. YIKES!!!!! I have never seen a crash like that a Texas that I can recall. I am glad Michael McDowell was able to walk away from this horrific crash. The safer barrier did its job. There were showing where the car hit the wall in Turn 1 and you could tell the damage to the foam. I have to give kudos to the workers in quickly repairing the wall. It was about a little over an hour (I guess that is quickly). I still have to OUCH, every time I watch the video. This is why SAFETY is so important to NASCAR these days. Michael is able to walk away with barely a scratch to race another day.

Texas Motor Speedway

I am usually getting ready about this time of year to head off to TMS, but alas I am going to have to stay home and watch the races again.  I am hoping (fingers and toes crossed) I can make the trek in November.

I haven’t been to any other track on the circuit, but I have to say Eddie Gossage and the folks at TMS know how to do it right.

If you are headed down this way, here are a few little tidbits/trivia about TMS

  • 1.5 mile oval with 24 degrees of banking in the turns
  • 1,656 women’s restrooms
  • 843 men’s restrrooms
  • Pit road length is 800 feet
  • TMS is the first speedway ever to dsiplay the lasp in the race counting down and counting up.
  • Has enough permanent lighting to illuminate 11 NFL stadiums
  • In one year, there are enough hot dogs sold to go around the 1.5 oval six times–that’s nine miles
  • Eight Texas Stadiums will fin in the infield of TMS

I guess you could say we do it BIG in Texas.  Of course that’s how we do things in Texas.
